Stephen Adams

Chief Financial Officer

A seasoned executive with 40 years of multi-industry, international experience in a wide variety of roles including corporate strategy, innovation and change, accounting, tax and financing, structure, planning, M&A, and operations management. After achieving an honors B.A. degree from University of Toronto and an accounting designation, he co-founded an accounting practice and was partner for a decade before selling it to a predecessor of one of the big four accounting firms. Moving into the corporate world, he spent another decade in various management and senior finance roles with multinational private and
public companies in real estate, manufacturing, marketing and product development, including Olympia & York, Cott Corporation and the Watt Group (now Watt International).

With the Internet explosion in the mid 90’s, he planted his entrepreneurial roots, leaving the corporate world and becoming CFO and co-founder of a series of technology, software, telecom, and content company startups. Riding a five year roller coaster of financings, acquisitions, regulatory filings, prospectuses and a Wall Street IPO, he papered over $400 million of financings and nurtured strategic relationships with some of the world’s largest technology, institutions and investment groups such as IBM, Intel, Lucent/Alcatel, EMC, Stanford University, Credit Suisse, Pacific Century Group, BMO and CIBC.

After 9/11 and the dot-com crash, he co-founded several start-ups in the wealth management, mutual fund, software development, media, marketing and finance sectors, partnering with Bloomberg and growing to over eighty staff in multiple locations in Canada and internationally.

Emerging from the global financial crisis, he has continued his entrepreneurial focus in a number of roles, from consultant to advisor to CFO, in private and public company environments. Companies range from start-ups to $100+ million international operations and include manufacturing, import/export, real estate development, artist promotion, mobile apps, pharmaceutical, media and marketing, content creation and online publishing.
